Chalets with a View - August 2004
The location is a dream: the three chalets of our new
Waterberg Plateau Lodge are nestled directly below the
red cliffs of Waterberg – but still high enough
on the slope to afford breathtaking views across the Omaheke.
The chalets are built from red, roughly hewn sandstone
and equipped to guarantee your comfort. This includes
a cast-iron stove which spreads cosy warmth during cold
winter nights. In summer a small plunge pool in the terrace
beckons guests to take a dip – while it also attracts
numerous birds to quench their thirst.
Giraffe blessed with Offspring - June 2004
The game programme at Waterberg Wilderness is bearing
fruit: the giraffe which we released a year ago have settled
in well and seem to be happy. Two females have given birth
to a calf, increasing the number of these gorgeous antelope
to nine. And they are not shy at all when we bump into
them on nature drives. Feeding conditions in the dense
tree and shrub savannah of our park are ideal for this
species. According to reports by 19th century travellers
there were plenty of giraffe in the area then.
